Women for Refugee Women is a small, dynamic charity working to ensure that women who are seeking safety in the UK are treated with justice and dignity. They empower refugee women to speak out about their own experiences to help increase understanding between communities and to build a fairer asylum process.
The charity provides a welcoming and supportive space in London for friendships to blossom across cultures. As part of their work, they host weekly English lessons, advice sessions, yoga and lunches cooked by women in their network. They also support an active and committed drama group, which meets weekly at Southbank Centre.
2018 is the centenary year that some women won the right to vote in the UK. Yet refugee and migrant women still struggle for representation and basic rights. They will share the story of their #AllWomenCount mass lobby of Parliament on International Women’s Day (8 March), which is an opportunity to come together to raise the voices of refugee and migrant women and demand all women’s rights to safety, dignity and liberty.
