Women, War and Peace-Building in Syria

Part of WOW – Women of the World

Six years into the Syrian Civil War, we look at the core issues affecting women’s lives in the country, as well as the refugee community and diaspora.

We ask: what is the role of the women in revolution, war and peace-building?

It is clear that the toll of the conflict has been devastating for women, but what role should they play in peaceful resolution and building the country’s future?

Activists, policymakers and campaigners will speak about the story on the ground for Syrian women and girls, where the optimism is and where the challenges are in fighting, peace-building, economics, violence against women, migration, education and culture.

Chaired by Egyptian novelist and political and cultural commentator Ahdaf Soueif.
