Freddie Opoku-Addaie: Our Veranda

Part of Concrete Dreams Weekend

This performance piece by Freddie Opoku-Addaie draws direct inspiration from Queen Elizabeth Hall and the craftsmanship of its unfinished aesthetic.

Inspired by the movement of audience and artists who have entered and filled the space throughout its history, this open-studio performance combines sound, movement, music and dance as tools for building enriching encounters in the space.

Our Veranda creates a playful tension between personal agency and openness of this foyer space – whether we move it or it moves us, in all its complexities.

Freddie Opoku-Addaie, in collaboration with: AkomaAsa Performing Arts Academy founder and director Akosua Boakye; Ukachi Akalawu of Akaraaka Dance; Mohamed Gueye, master drummer and musician; composer and producer Millips; composer and performance artist Tyrone Isaac-Stuart; and sculptures by Friedel Buecking and Christine Kowal Post.
