Schubert’s plaintive and personal F minor Fantasy ends the first half of the evening. The Fantasy was composed during the last year of Schubert’s life and conveys a deep melancholy.
The concert culminates with Debussy’s La mer arranged for piano duet. Debussy’s masterpiece evokes the infinite graceful rhythms of the sea in a flowing tapestry of sound.
