Performance & Dance

Slap and Tickle

Part of (B)old

Dance meets performance in this provocative and moving one-woman show exploring sexual taboos and mature womanhood, by choreographer and performer Liz Aggiss.

In this exploration of girls and ladies, women and mothers, bitches and dogs, pensioners and senior citizens, Aggiss places herself centre stage.

The performance moves from spoken word to expressionist movement, from costume change to prop manipulation – from the personal to the historical.

Driven by feminist dance practices and framed by the politics that challenge and resist the ‘authority’ of formal conventions, the show revises attitudes towards mature female visibility.

Slap and Tickle is supported by Arts Council England, Dance4, South East Dance and University of Bath.

It was presented in 2016 and 2017 over 35 times, including at SICK! Manchester, Hear Me Roar Lancaster, Mature Moves Tasmania, Gender Bender Bologna, Ignite Bristol, DIG Glasgow, RISE Findhorn, DanceLive Aberdeen, Brighton Festival, BDE Cardiff, British Council Showcase Edinburgh Festival.

The hilarious tickle never undermines the serious slap in this solo – sheer brilliance
