Honors Performance Series

Talented young musicians perform a spirited programme, from exuberant classical to American folk, under the batons of Greg Gilpin and Jason Seber.

The Honors Junior Choir and Honors Junior Orchestra begin the evening with Schubert’s joyful Gloria Patri.

The concert centres around two beloved nautical-themed folk songs, the English ‘Bonny Bobby Shafto’ and expressive American sea shanty ‘Shenandoah’.

The evening concludes with Leavitt’s lively ‘Festival Sanctus’.

Honors Performance Series assembles young musicians annually on several of the world’s renowned stages. This performance features students from around the world, including the US and Australia.

Award-winning choral composer and arranger Gilpin leads the Honors Junior Choir.

Gilpin has worked with artists including Ray Boltz, Bill and Gloria Gaither and Sandi Patty, as well as working on the educational music publications for publisher Shawnee Press.

Conducting the Honors Junior Orchestra, Seber is the David T. Beals III Associate Conductor of the Kansas City Symphony (Missouri, USA), where he leads the Symphony in nearly 70 annual performances.

Seber has collaborated in performances with artists including Jinjoo Cho, Boyz II Men and Doc Severinsen.
