And Also The Trees

Part of Grace Jones' Meltdown

This Meltdown, turn up and tune in to the jazz rhythms and poetic lyrics of post-punk group And Also The Trees, with support from A Dead Forest Index.

And Also The Trees formed in Worcestershire, England, in 1979. In their early years, they caught the attention of Robert Smith, who invited them to tour with The Cure on several occasions. Smith, along with Laurence Tolhurst, produced their early recordings.

Since then, they have released thirteen studio albums, toured frequently throughout Europe, and visited the United States and Japan, where they have a cult following.

The band is known for their captivating live performances, their distinctive style of mandolin-like electric guitars, poetic lyrics, dark jazz rhythms and their carefully preserved independence.

In recent years, founding members Simon Huw Jones and Justin Jones, and Paul Hill (drummer since 1998) have collaborated with a variety of musicians and artists, including Marc Almond, Bernard Trontin of The Young Gods, Olivier Mellano with the Brittany Symphony Orchestra, and German multimedia artist John Bock.

Their latest album is Born Into the Waves (2016).
