Film Screening

Summer Film Nights: Sister Act

Part of Summer at Southbank Centre

Get in on the Sister Act at this outdoor screening of the classic comedy film starring Whoopi Goldberg, part of Chorus Weekend.

At this screening presented by Electric Pedals, jump on one of the bikes to pedal power our screen, or bring a blanket and cushion and get comfortable while you watch. And sing along to the swinging soundtrack if the mood takes you!

Goldberg plays lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, whose life takes a turn for the devotional when she is placed in a witness protection programme in a San Francisco convent after witnessing a mob murder.

Though the worldly singer struggles to fit into her new life as Sister Mary Clarence at first, she soon finds her place leading the convent choir to greater heights with rock and pop arrangements of traditional hymns. But what will her new friends think when they discover her true identity?

There will be a special performance from the joy-spreading singing group BASSnote Collective to warm you up for this event, 8.15pm – 8.45pm on the same Riverside Terrace Stage.
