Thomas Trotter: Titanic Masterworks

Part of Classical Season 2019/20

Recognised with a roster of international awards, Thomas Trotter has been called ‘one of the most brilliant concert organists currently on the world stage’.

In his return to the Royal Festival Hall stage, the sparkles, shimmers and melodrama of Mendelssohn’s incidental music to A Midsummer Night’s Dream contrast with the dizzying counterpoint of Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in E Minor.

Trotter also juxtaposes two titanic Teutonic composers: hear the flags of dawn appear in Reger’s mighty Fantasy on ‘Wachet Auf’ alongside Wagner’s noble Pilgrim’s Chorus from Tannhäuser, the delicacy of the Romance to the Evening Star and the bombastic, exuberant Ride of the Valkyries.
