E.O.L. Soulfrito is a play on the popular Latin-Caribbean seasoning sofrito, which serves as a nod to Vega’s own Puerto Rican heritage.
Vega began spinning discs aged 13. By 20 he was DJing house and block parties in the Bronx, his local neighbourhood, and three years later in major clubs in New York City. He is one half of the multiple Grammy-nominated production and remix team Masters at Work, created in 1990.
Playing classy house-infused jazz, funk, world and soul music, Vega’s new band E.O.L. Soulfrito includes Josh Milan on vocals and keyboards, Anané Vega on vocals, Axel Tosca on keyboards, Gene Perez on bass, Luisito Quintero on drums and Carlos Quintero on percussion.
