Madeline Miller Masterclass on Rewriting Myth

Part of London Literature Festival

Breathe new life into mythic characters and make ancient stories relevant to a modern reader at a writing masterclass led by Madeline Miller.

Miller shares her tips for rewriting myths for the modern reader. She has written two bestselling novels that are vital, fresh reimaginings of Greek classics, transforming them with contemporary prose.

The Song of Achilles won the Orange Prize for Fiction 2012, was shortlisted for the Stonewall Writer of the Year 2012, was an instant New York Times bestseller, and has been translated into twenty-eight languages.

Her second novel, Circe, was a Sunday Times hardback fiction bestseller for four weeks and debuted at number one in the New York Times. Miller holds an MA in Classics from Brown University, and she taught Latin, Greek and Shakespeare to high school students for over a decade.

She has also studied at the University of Chicago’s Committee on Social Thought, and at Yale School of Drama, where she focused on the adaptation of classical texts to modern forms. Her essays have appeared in publications including The Guardian and Wall Street Journal.
