Somali Women Poets: the Next Generation

Part of London Literature Festival

Hear emerging female Somali poets and spoken-word artists from the Share Your Talent platform in a celebration of ten years of Somali Week Festival.

The evening, hosted and chaired by emerging photographer Mina Shoots, features Suhaama Elmi, Fatima Diriye, Sagal Farah, Aisha Nuri and Deeqa Abdi.

A panel discussion on the changing role of women in Somali culture follows the readings, exploring this year's festival theme, 'Women in Arts', which examines the contributions of British-Somali women to London's artistic landscape.

The festival, presented by Kayd Somali Arts & Culture, launched the platform to showcase young and emerging Somali poets, writers, photographers, musicians and filmmakers.
