Behind the Scenes Tour

Part of Southbank Centre Tours

Our tours offer striking insight into the history of the site and the people who have shaped it.

Join us to follow in the footsteps of world-famous orchestras and artists on a tour that will give you exclusive access to areas usually reserved for performers and Southbank Centre staff, and hear behind-the-scenes stories from our trained Tour Guides.

This tour answers questions like: What does Royal Festival Hall have in common with an egg box? Who granted the venue's royal patronage? When was Eurovision hosted here?

Southbank Centre dates back to the Festival of Britain in 1951. One of the most popular cultural destinations in the country, we host thousands of performances and millions of visitors every year.

Tours last approximately one hour and begin at the Ticket Office at Royal Festival Hall. Each tour is different, and the route taken varies depending on the day’s activities and events.

Tours take place on the following dates and times:
Saturday 1 September, 2pm
Saturday 22 September, 6pm
Saturday 29 September, 6pm
