Winter Knees Up

Part of Winter

Join us for an inclusive day of music, storytelling and craft with activities inspired by spending time with all the generations in your families.

Bring along your Granny, Grandad, Pops, Nana or older and younger friends and enjoy a full day of quality time together.

Crackers about Crackers!
12 noon – 2.30pm
What party would be complete without the traditional cracker? This year, make them together before sharing them together, complete with your own jokes and a traditional festive hat.

The Embers Collective
3pm – 5pm
Watch a performance from London-based storytelling and live music group The Embers Collective, formed by three friends (a writer, an actor and a musician) in 2016. Driven by a passion for the art of sharing stories, they put on events with a focus on community and connection, weaving together songs and stories with a live evolving musical landscape.

Grupo Lokito
5.30pm – 7pm
End the day with live music inspired by a home away from home. Grupo Lokito create a modern day cocktail of two of the great world musics, fusing blistering contemporary Congolese grooves with the fire of Cuban music. The results have audiences dancing in a haze of energy, regardless of age.

The glorious melodious vocals of Congolese frontmen Eugene Makuta and Iddo Donnatella blends with soaring guitars courtesy of Congolese guitar hero Mbokalia, and the lilting keyboards of Latin piano player Sara McGuinness. All of this sits on top of the rhythmic powerhouse team of Ernesto (drums), Emeris (Congas) and Elpidio (bass).
