Sangam: Shashank Subramaniam & Friends

Part of Classical Season 2020/21

This event has been rescheduled as we are currently closed due to the coronavirus crisis: all tickets are valid for the new date.

The best of three worlds: musicians from India, Germany and Africa perform together in a soul-stirring collaboration.

African grooves, South Indian melody and rhythm and Western harmony meet each other and are entwined in Sangam.

Flautist Shashank Subramaniam is joined by pianist Mike Herting, tabla artist Kousic Sen and percussionist Pape Samory Seck.

The music they create together is as beautiful as it is surprising, full of movement and stillness, played from the heart of the musicians to the heart of the audience.

Shashank Subramaniam is a Grammy-nominated flautist from Chennai who represents classical Carnatic music worldwide.

Germany’s Mike Herting is a composer and jazz pianist who is known for intercultural exploration, creating links with musicians across the world.

Masterful tabla artist Kousic Sen comes together with one of Senegal’s best percussionists, Pape Samory Seck, to create rhythmical fire.
