Friday Lunch: Moonfish

Part of Friday Lunch

Hear new music taking in jazz improvisation, electronic beats and alternative rock from drummer Riccardo Chiaberta and pianist Maria Chiara Argirò.

The set-up of this new project combines piano, keyboards, synths and pedals, with drums and bass synth played simultaneously.

Pianist, keyboard player and composer Argirò has toured with bands including These New Puritans. Her 2016 debut album The Fall Dance pulled away from traditional jazz to create her own sound. She's currently part of projects such as Liran Donin's 1000 Boats, Kinkajous and Teotima. Her second album as a leader and composer is titled Hidden Seas.

Drummer and composer Chiaberta has played with bands including Dugong, Bruno Heinen & Italian Job, Paolino Dalla Porta and Kettle of Kites. He released Lux, his first album as a leader, with the band Nirguna on Honolulu Records, a label co-founded by Chiaberta.
