Voicelab Explores: St John Passion

Part of Voicelab

Bring your voice and plenty of energy for an afternoon workshop led by mezzo-soprano and vocal coach Mary King on Bach’s dramatic choral masterpiece.

King, former artistic director of Southbank Centre's Voicelab, guides singers in an exploration of extracts from the work. Composed during Bach’s first year as director of church music in Leipzig, this thrilling, experimental piece was first performed on 7 April 1724.

Assisted by Canadian tenor Daniel Auchincloss, singers of all abilities and levels of experience are welcome to join the Voicelab community and enjoy an afternoon of singing together. Sheet music will be provided, but you do not have to be able to read music to take part.
