Bask in rich tones at a free recital of viola works by Bowen, Bach, Schubert and Jacob.
Bach’s Chaconne – ‘a whole world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful feelings’, according to Brahms – is here arranged for four violas.
The programme culminates in Gordon Jacob’s many-textured Suite for 8 violas, written to mark English violist Lionel Tertis’ centenary in 1976.
The concert is programmed by Yukiko Ogura, Principal Viola of the Philharmonia Orchestra, ahead of the Orchestra’s evening concert.
