Debussy & Webern

Part of Classical Season 2019/20

Tender, sensual, ravishing: hear a short, free recital of two chamber works that reach towards ecstasy.

Debussy’s String Quartet uses a strong motif to coax the listener to a sense of revelation.

The intensely romantic Langsamer Satz (Slow Movement) was written by Webern after a walk in the Austrian countryside with his cousin. They later married.

This concert is programmed by Yaroslava Trofymchuk, cellist in the Philharmonia Orchestra, ahead of the Orchestra’s evening concert.
