Clara Rodriguez & Friends: A Room of One's Own

The spotlight’s on essential female artists from Europe and Latin America in an evening of music and literary readings curated by the Venezuelan pianist.

Clara Rodriguez was inspired to present a programme of works by brilliant women, featuring solo piano and chamber music pieces by Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Modesta Bor, Luisa Elena Paesano, Maria Luisa Escobar, Teresa Carreño, Consuelo Velázquez and Maria Grever, and a premiere by Joy Lisney.

Music is interspersed by thoughts and observations from Virginia Woolf, George Sand and the composers themselves.

Rodriguez's piano, the violin of the BBC Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Stephen Bryant, the cello of Joy Lisney, the bass of Leonardo Muller and the charm of actor Alistair McGowan bring to the audience a spellbinding concert.
