Open Studio: LCO x Michael Price

Part of Purcell Sessions

See new music created live ahead of the evening performance, one in a series bringing Erased Tapes artists together with London Contemporary Orchestra.

Internationally recognised for his extensive work as a composer, producer, arranger and music editor in the world of film and TV music, Michael Price has been nominated for three Emmy Awards (winning in 2014 for the BBC series Sherlock) and a BAFTA, and has worked on projects ranging from the Lord of the Rings trilogy to the Inbetweeners movies.

The London Contemporary Orchestra is one of the UK's leading contemporary ensembles, known in particular for its focus on collaboration. They have performed live and recorded with artists such as Frank Ocean, Jed Kurzel, Jonny Greenwood, Steve Reich, Justice, Terry Riley, Thom Yorke, Mica Levi, Actress, Beck, William Basinski and Richard Reed Parry.

Each session in the Purcell Sessions series comprises a workshop where composers and players work together to test and develop new methods, followed by an evening performance of the works created alongside pieces from which the artists have taken inspiration.
