Tones, Drones and Arpeggios

Part of Classical music

Twentieth-century music defies expectations with conductor Charles Hazlewood’s three ensembles, including The British Paraorchestra.

They perform alongside Army of Generals and the All-Star Collective in a concert based on the 2018 BBC4 program of the same name.

It explores work from four of the great Minimalist composers who influenced classical music in the 20th Century.

The genre has defied expectations and continues to influence music from across the spectrum today.

The British Paraorchestra is the world’s only large-scale ensemble for professional disabled musicians.

Their mission is to redefine what an orchestra can be, presenting a body of instruments that draws on the tradition of centuries but is enriched by the talents, instruments and zeitgeist of the 21st century.

Army of Generals is an ensemble of orchestral musicians famed for its dynamic performances. Hazlewood’s All-Star Collective is an electronica band comprising some of the big names of the pop and rock world.
