Kayhan Kalhor is an internationally acclaimed virtuoso on the kamancheh. A native of Iran, he was a musical prodigy who travelled around the country to perform and explore the music of its many regions.
Internationally, he has appeared as soloist with a variety of symphony orchestras and ensembles, and is co-founder of renowned ensembles Dastan, Ghazal and Masters of Persian Music.
Kalhor's compositions are prominent in Silkroad's repertoire, and his recordings have received four Grammy Award nominations.
The Rembrandt Trio is pianist/composer Rembrandt Frerichs, bass and violone player Tony Overwater and drummer Vinsent Planjer.
The trio is known for the remarkable use of piano/fortepiano, double bass/violone, and the self-invented ‘whisper kit’, which brings together percussion instruments from various cultures and periods to create a rich rhythmic basis.
