Karol Samuelcík: Music from Europe & South America

Part of Classical Season 2018/19

The classical guitarist spans the Atlantic with a programme of masterworks from Central Europe to Argentina, including Joseph Kaspar Mertz and Astor Piazzolla.

In his Southbank Centre debut, Karol Samuelcík performs works by contemporary Slovak composers, Lukáš Borzík and Jevgenij Iršai, ending the first part of the concert with Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

The second part of the programme includes South American rhythms from Piazzolla, creator of New Tango, and Brazilian revelation Sérgio Assad, virtuoso performer and grand composer of vivid Brazilian music.
