Discover Music: Beethoven

Part of Beethoven 250

Introduce your secondary school students to the mighty music of Beethoven in a study day, part of our celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

Who was Beethoven and why has his iconic music stood the test of time? Students will get to know the composer through listening to live performances, taking part in interactive workshops and exploring their own opinions on classical music and its influences on what we hear today.

Students take part in engaging, fun sessions, where they have the opportunity to build on skills such as performing, improvising, composing, listening to and understanding music.

Drawing on the expertise of those involved in our Beethoven 250 series, pupils dive deep in a series of artist-led workshops and performances throughout the day.

Southbank Centre’s Discover Music days aim to inspire and support children to pursue their own creative passions through interactive performances and workshops with some of our celebrated musical artists.
