Polari: Featuring Jen Brister

Polari strides into summer with new literary passion and fiery new commentaries on queer hearts, hopes and heroes.

Jen Brister, who headlines the first of two summer outings for the salon in its longstanding residency at Southbank Centre, is a stand-up comedian and writer.

Recently featured on BBC's Live at the Apollo, BBC Radio 4's The News Quiz and Frankie Boyle's New World Order, she is a regular performer on the UK and international comedy circuits.

Brister is currently touring her brand new show, Under Privilege. Her book, The Other Mother, is published by Vintage.

Joining Brister for an evening of customary warmth, camaraderie and sparkle with extracts from their latest work are Juno Roche, Sophie Ward, Neil Blackmore and Heleen Kist.

Tonight also sees the longlist announcement of the Polari First Book Prize with typical fun and literary mayhem overseen by the event’s effervescent anchor, Paul Burston.
