Ingrid & Christine Jensen with Whirlwind Big Band

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival

The West Canadian sisters, masters of trumpet and sax, demonstrate their rich, intuitive jazz sound in concert with a new big band.

Juno and Grammy award-winning Christine and Ingrid Jensen showcase a programme of jazz compositions in a show with Whirlwind Big Band, a new project put together by indie label Whirlwind Recordings.

The pair, Ingrid specialising in trumpet and Christine on alto and soprano saxophones, have become familiar names in modern jazz over the past 20 years.

They have collaborated with artists including trumpeter Clark Terry, composer Maria Schneider and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington.

Their music attests to an eclectic blend of influences, ranging from traditional jazz and classical music to American folk and the avant-garde. Their last two albums were released to worldwide acclaim on Whirlwind Recordings.

Whirlwind Big Band consists of musicians with a strong female component, including leading solo acts from the UK, Europe and the USA and all associated with the Whirlwind Recordings label.
