Polari: Featuring Tracey Thorn

Part of London Literature Festival

The Polari Book Prize winners are announced at an evening from the LGBTQ+ literary salon, featuring the Everything But The Girl star and more speakers to be announced.

Tracey Thorn is a singer-songwriter and writer. She grew up in Brookmans Park, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, where she learned the piano, enjoyed underaged drinking, and started her first band while still at school.

Since then, she has released four solo albums, one movie soundtrack, a large handful of singles and two books, including the Sunday Times bestselling memoir, Bedsit Disco Queen, and she currently writes a column for the New Statesman.

Thorn is in conversation with Paul Burston, creator and founder of the Polari salon.

Joining Thorn are legendary cartoonist Kate Charlesworth and former Polari First Book Prize winner John McCullough who read from their latest work. They showcase the best in emerging and established narratives of queer life.

Also tonight, we announce the winners of both The Polari First Book Prize for debut authors and the new Polari Book Prize for non-debuts.
