Building Community Through Composition

Part of Composers' Collective

Musician and composer Supriya Nagarajan advises on bridging gaps between diverse musical genres and cultures in an afternoon workshop.

She demonstrates successful models through which to encourage communities of musicians from diverse musical backgrounds to compose for more mainstream, Western classical instruments and ensembles.

Through demonstrations, Q&As and practical workshop elements, Nagarajan explores ways to engage with broader communities to forge creative partnerships.

This workshop is tailored towards composers and musicians from all musical traditions and backgrounds.

Supriya Nagarajan is a sought-after Carnatic vocalist in the UK and has performed in India, Thailand, Cambodia, Europe, Scandinavia and the UK.

Nagarajan works with artists from other genres to create new musical vocabulary and constantly widening boundaries through collaboration. She has been widely commissioned for cross-genre works.
