The Successes of the Lionesses

Part of WOW – Women of the World

Ninety-nine years ago women’s football was stopped dead in its tracks, banned by the FA for being ‘unsuitable for females’ (a ban that lasted until 1971).

Fast-forward almost a century and the England Women’s football team has won our hearts, the number of women becoming active over the past year has surged, and coverage of women’s sports has increased massively.

It’s been a great year. But there’s so much more to do.

Come and hear how sport is often at the cutting edge of the thinking around equality, where the current debates are up to, and what the successes of the Lionesses means for us all.
