What You Need To Know: Wagner's Ring - Part 2

Part of Classical Season 2020/21

The second of our study days offers new insights into a passion-inspiring opera experience.

Join us to mark the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski's star-studded, semi-staged productions of the complete Ring Cycle at Royal Festival Hall.

Over the course of a weekend, discover the stories behind the Ring Cycle, Wagner's inspirations and obsessions, and the secrets behind his scores.

We’re holding two study days to give you the best possible chance to explore different aspects of the cycle’s music, staging, mythology and production.

Whether you are new to the music, or a seasoned follower of the cycle, find out more about why it resonates to this day with audiences around the world.

Southbank Centre's Director of Music Gillian Moore and the BBC's Tom Service guide you through the Ring Cycle’s magical, musical world.

By the end, you should have all the insights you need to get the most out of the LPO’s ambitious production.

The weekend includes presentations, discussions and musical exploration with guest artists, experts and live musicians, soon to be announced.
