Minor Miracles in the Age of Reason
Leading exponent of the fortepiano Steven Devine joins the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for Mozart’s luscious Piano Concerto No.23, in this broadcast performance.
Born, like his more famous contemporary, in 1756, Joseph Kraus is often referred to as ‘the Swedish Mozart’.
However, it’s a rare treat to hear both composers’ music played side by side.
Kraus’ Symphony in C minor provides a powerful opening to tonight’s concert in celebration of prescient creativity.
This event is pre-recorded exclusively for the Southbank Centre.
