International Organ Series 2017/18
Come and hear one of the world’s great pipe organs put through its paces by some of the finest exponents of the instrument. Whether you’re an organ devotee or an intrigued musical explorer, you’ll find great performers, great music and a welcoming crowd at our organ recitals.
Spanning the full width of the Royal Festival Hall stage, the organ’s 7866 pipes are impressive to look at – but the instrument is even more impressive to listen to, filling the hall with the sounds of birds and cathedrals, funfairs and thunderstorms.
The music of JS Bach is a bright thread running through the 2017/18 season – Anne Page gives an all-Bach recital, while both Simon Johnson and William Whitehead perform pieces from the Orgelbüchlein Project, new commissions to complement Bach’s incomplete collection of chorale preludes.
These events go on sale to Southbank Centre Members at 10am on Tuesday 21 February, and on general sale at 10am on Thursday 23 February.
