Welcome to the 2018/19 Classical Season at Southbank Centre.

This season’s highlights included the first UK performances of Stockhausen’s monumental opera Donnerstag aus Licht since 1985; recitals from Maurizio Pollini, Angela Hewitt and more outstanding pianists; a whole weekend dedicated to the music of Stockhausen, curated by Southbank Centre Artist in Residence Pierre-Laurent Aimard; the European premiere of a new work from Philip Glass in tribute to the chameleon genius of pop mastermind David Bowie; as well as exceptional concerts from our Resident and Associate Orchestras.

This season's highlights include a celebration of Beethoven's 250th birthday, performances in the Hayward Gallery from Sean Shibe and the Colin Currie Group, and Michael Tilson Thomas celebrating his 75th birthday and final season with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.
