Andris Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig

Experience Andris Nelsons' London debut as Kapellmeister of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, one of the world's oldest and most eminent orchestras, in two very special concerts.

The first evening will celebrate the centenary of composer Bernd Alois Zimmermann with a performance of his trumpet concerto Nobody knows de trouble I see by soloist Håkan Hardenberger, ending with Mahler's eligiac and epic Symphony No. 5.

The second evening will encompass the UK premiere of Andris Dzenitis' Māra, a selection of arias from Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades and Eugene Onegin performed by soprano Kristine Opolais, and Mahler's sumptious Symphony No 1.

The Gewandhausorchester concerts take place on Monday 8 & Tuesday 9 October 2018 at Southbank Centre.
