International Chamber Music Series

The International Chamber Music Series brings together the most exciting musical collaborations the world over. Featuring rising soloists and seasoned artists, new compositions and well-loved pieces, our upcoming season of concerts brings you phenomenal, intimate performances.

In our 2019/20 season, BBC Young Musician of the Year-winning cellists Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Guy Johnston join forces in a programme of cello sonatas by Boccherini interspersed with works by composers including Jean-Baptiste Barrière, Reinhold Glière, and a new commission for two cellos by young British composer Emma-Ruth Richards.

Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter gives life to two of Beethoven’s chamber masterpieces alongside a new commission by Jörg Widmann. The 2020/21 season includes two concerts from the Barenboim Piano Trio performing Beethoven’s masterpieces, and Harriet, a new chamber opera by Hilda Paredes inspired by the American abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman.

In addition, see stellar performances by Associate Artists Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Colin Currie, as well as many other returning artists and new faces.

The joy here was the sense of communion between the visibly enthused performers and a beaming audience high on hypnotic percussion
