The International Chamber Music Series brings together some of the most exciting musical collaborations the world over.
Back in a newly reopened Queen Elizabeth Hall, ICMS celebrates with a performance of Steve Reich’s Different Trains, 30 years on from its world premiere in the same venue in 1988. Further highlights include the return of percussionist Colin Currie with a contemporary blend of Stockhausen and Birtwistle; Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Marie-Luise Neunecker performing Ligeti’s Horn Trio as part of our weekend-long Ligeti in Wonderland festival; soprano Danielle de Niese reflecting on themes of life and death; and Benjamin Grosvenor heading up a performance of Schubert’s Trout Quintet.
Among the 2018/19 season highlights we count magnetic figures like Catalan viola virtuoso Jordi Savall and pianists Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich who bring the music of Stockhausen to life. Lawrence Power and Pavel Kolesnikov delight you with an all about Brahms programme; and quartets from around the world such as Nash Ensemble, Jerusalem Quartet and Artemis Quartet bring you vibrant and immersive musical evenings.
