The Philharmonia Orchestra is a world-class symphony orchestra for the 21st century
Led by its Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Philharmonia creates thrilling experiences in music, working with some of the world's greatest artists.
The Philharmonia has a pioneering approach to the role of the modern-day orchestra, reaching new audiences and participants through digital technology and creative learning programmes.
In 2020 the Philharmonia celebrates 75 years of brilliant live music-making, definitive recordings, technological innovation and artistic adventure.
Its musicians are thrilled to be back on the Royal Festival Hall stage this autumn, giving live-streamed concerts for a global audience. The Philharmonia's top team – Principal Conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen and Principal Conductor Designate Santtu-Matias Rouvali – kick off the series.
In an American-themed selection marking the orchestra's 75th birthday, Rouvali takes a trip to the percussion section for music by Steve Reich. The series also features captivating soloists including American soprano Julia Bullock, making her Southbank Centre debut, and violinist Nicola Benedetti in an all-Beethoven concert.
