Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

In its 2019/20 season, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra proudly continues its tradition of presenting extraordinary music and the talent to match.

The Orchestra’s new musical partnership with Vasily Petrenko (Music Director Designate from 2021) sees him conduct Prokofiev’s Symphony No.5 and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with virtuosic flourish, while conductors Robert Trevino and Thierry Fischer present programmes with some of the greatest music ever produced by the Russian traditions.

The season features spectacular set pieces, as the Bach Choir joins the Orchestra for Holst’s The Planets and Sir Andrew Davis conducts Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique with a gripping Romantic intensity.

Other highlights from renowned artists include Khatia Buniatishvili’s performance of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2 and soprano Siobhan Stagg in Strauss’ heart-shattering Four Last Songs.
