New Music Biennial
1 – 3 July 2022
Showcasing composers and music creators pushing the boundaries of music in the UK
PRS Foundation and the Southbank Centre's New Music Biennial celebrates its ten-year anniversary in 2022, bringing back music previously performed here alongside brand new commissions.
The festival packs in pieces from across all genres, forming a unique snapshot of contemporary music: there’s classical music and chamber opera, plus jazz, folk and electronic.
Each work created for the New Music Biennial is no longer than 15 minutes, creating an accessible, interactive way for audiences to discover new music by some of the most exciting composers and music creators in the UK today.
Meanwhile, workshops, talks and extra performances offer audiences more opportunities to explore the programme.
The festival is free but ticketed, and in addition to the live programme here at the Southbank Centre, the full list of 20 works is being presented in partnership with Coventry UK City of Culture, broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and made available after the festival on NMC Recordings.
