Prophets, Visionaries and Power

8 Apr - 28 Apr
From the American election to the civil wars in the Middle East, to the refugee crisis in Europe, political ideologies are increasingly coming into conflict with religious teachings. In this, the fourth part of our year-long festival, Belief and Beyond Belief, we invite you to explore the issue of politics and power through music, talks and debates.

On Saturday 8 April, speakers including Indarjit Singh, a prominent British-Asian active in Sikh and interfaith activities and a member of the House of Lords; Sayed Razawi, director general of Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society; and award-winning novelist Elif Şafak, come together to discuss topics such as the rise of nationalism, voting with God, women reformers of religion and the battle for British Islam.

Also, the London Philharmonic Orchestra perform monumental works by composers including Wagner, Mahler, Tallis, Bruckner and Strauss.
