Kicking Dust Panel Discussion
Uncover artist Igshaan Adams' distinct approach to materiality at a live-streamed discussion between a panel of experts.
The conversation focuses on how the artist's choice of materials, and inventive and varied styles of weaving, lends itself to an exploration of identity, specifically in relation to race, religion and sexuality.
The Cape Town-based panellists include scholar Dr Ala Alhourani, curator Josh Ginsburg and academic and curator Dr Portia Malatjie.
The event is held on National Youth Day in South Africa: a day commemorating the student-led Soweto Uprising of 1976. Tickets are free of charge to all students of any age, level and locality.

This event takes place live online via Zoom. A link with joining details will be sent to bookers an hour before the event start time.
We advise that you join the event 25 minutes before the start time, so that if you have any technical difficulties, you don’t miss the beginning of the show.

Have you found yourself in a waiting room?
Don’t worry, your host will check you in to the event when it begins. We advise you try to join events up to 25 minutes in advance to check that everything is working properly. Before the start time, you will be kept in a waiting room.
