(B)old

14 May 2018 - 20 May 2018

In 2018, (B)old profiled artists aged 65 years and over, who are established in their practice and recognised nationally or internationally for their work. The intention of (B)old was to celebrate great artists who have stood the test of time, and not shy away from the issues facing them. In industries that often celebrate and cater to the young, when are you truly 'in your prime'? What impact has age had on your artistic practice, and how do you stay relevant?

Headliners included: legendary jazz singer Dame Cleo Laine; the father of 'reggae poetry', Linton Kwesi Johnson; leading poet-playwright Tony Harrison; the mother of contemporary African dance, Germaine Acogny; renowned author and creator of Mog the Cat, Judith Kerr; one of the world's greatest pianists, Alfred Brendel, and more.
