Alexander D Great

Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Alexander D Great grew up in London. A professional musician and composer for more than 40 years, with over 16 albums and EPs to his name, he divides his time between live performance, running his own record label and doing poetry and calypso workshops in schools and colleges. Since February 2000 he has been Calypsonian-in-Residence for the BBC, the Windrush Foundation and the Equiano Society. He was UK Calypso Monarch in 2010, 2011 and 2023. He was also the first calypsonian on Britain’s Got Talent.
