Caleb Azumah Nelson

Caleb Azumah Nelson is an award-winning British-Ghanaian writer and film-maker living in south east London. His bestselling debut novel, Open Water, won the Costa First Novel Award and British Book Award for Debut Fiction, while his second book, Small Worlds, won the 2024 Dylan Thomas Prize. A National Book Foundation ‘5 under 35’ honoree, Nelson wrote and directed the Locarno Film Festival-premiered short film Pray and he is currently adapting Open Water into a BBC series.
