Guy Standing

Guy Standing is an economist and Professorial Research Associate at SOAS University of London. He has also held professorships at Bath and Monash universities and was a programme director at the International Labour Organization (ILO). He is co-founder and now co-president of BIEN, a global NGO promoting basic income as a right. He has given lectures in over 150 universities in 52 countries and is a frequent keynote speaker at conferences. His book The Precariat: The New Dangerous Class (Bloomsbury) has been translated into 24 languages. His latest book is Human Capital: The Tragedy of the Education Commons (Pelican, 2026).
