Mary Beard

Mary Beard is the nation’s favourite classicist, the author of the bestselling SPQR and co-host of the podcast Instant Classics. In 2026 she was a judge for the Booker Prize. She has been the TLS Classics editor since 1992 and writes a regular blog, A Don’s Life, for the TLS website.
