Reem Kelani

Singer and educator Reem Kelani has long been the face of Palestinian music and culture in the UK and internationally. Her debut album Sprinting Gazelle is a defiant affirmation of the Palestinian cultural existence, with songs and poems from pre-1948 Palestine. In her current exploration of the cultural legacy of Arab and Muslim Spain, Kelani’s new repertoire combines Arabic music with Flamenco, Arabic language with Spanish and Andalusian dialect, and Arabic poetry with Spanish lyrics. A related album and book are due for release in 2027. Kelani is accompanied on piano by her long-term artistic collaborator, Bruno Heinen, professor of jazz piano and composition at Trinity Laban.
