Sarah Aristidou
French soprano Sarah Aristidou is an opera singer, vocally serene in classical, contemporary and folk music, as well as live improvisations. She’s also a visual artist. She made history in 2022 as the first vocalist to be awarded the Belmont Prize for Contemporary Music. Renowned as an intense and compelling actress, Aristidou gave breakthrough performances as Venus/Gepopo in recent, acclaimed new productions of Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre at Wiener Staatsoper and Bayerische Staatsoper.
Aristidou recently joined The Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst for Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine recorded by Medici. Following her appearance in ‘Transfiguré – 12 vies de Schönberg’, directed by Bertrand Bonello with the Orchestre de Paris and Ariane Matiakh, she returned to the Philharmonie de Paris for Fauré’s Requiem under Klaus Mäkelä.
Sarah’s projects reflect her artistic vision – a shared silence born from the vastness of an authentic note. Her discography includes AETHER (2021) and Enigma (2023) Thomas Larcher’s The Living Mountain (ECM), S’Agapo with Kaan Bulak, Riccardo Villalobos and Ale Hop (Feral Note) and Max Cooper’s EP Seme which was performed live as part of Salzburg’s 2024 Easter Festival.
