Art by Post

Art by Post began in May 2020, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, with Of Home and Hope. Working with 17 artists we created a series of 12 creative booklets inspired by the artistic programme here at the Southbank Centre, to help people at risk of social isolation and digital exclusion.

Each of the booklets guided participants through a series of activities to spark their imagination, keep their mind active and help them stay connected to others.  Over 40,000 booklets were sent out, and we collaborated with a community of over 4,500 participants – including people with long-term health conditions and those living with dementia – who ranged in age from 18 to 103. 

In 2023 this was followed by our second project Poems for Our Planet, inspired by the Southbank Centre’s Planet Summer, a series of events and performances that looked at the current climate emergency. Poems for Our Planet guided participants through activities which used poetry, creativity and nature to support wellbeing.
